LA Galaxy's Donovan Ricketts has been named the 2010 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
The 33-year old Jamaica international conceded less than a goal a game as he helped the Galaxy to the Supporter's Shield.
He beat off competition Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando and FC Dallas gloveman Kevin Hartman to take the award and was delighted to receive it although he was clear that the major prize still lay ahead.
"Maybe [the award is] No. 1, because it's the first time I've been named goalkeeper of the year in anything," Ricketts said. "One out of one. It's No. 1 for the time being, but it will soon be replaced by MLS Cup." Ricketts played in 29 of the 30 regular season matches for LA and managed to keep a career-high 11 clean sheets.
