LA Galaxy's Gonzalez excited about MLS expansion

LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez insists it is an exciting time being involved with Major League Soccer.

This season saw the addition of two new teams - Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers - with Montreal Impact to follow next year.

And with a further team to come possibly the season after, the 22-year old talent is excited about being a part of it all.

"It's a really exciting time to be in the league. It's expanding and gaining more and more recognition every day," he said in an interview with sports blog Dirty Tackle.

"A few years ago, the MLS wasn't what it is today. I'm proud to say I play for the MLS, specifically The Galaxy."

Gonzalez was also asked if he had an unknown fact about superstar teammate David Beckham. He revealed that a PB&J sandwich and taking the team out to dinner were two surprises.

"The first time he had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was a year ago," he added.

"And yes - he has taken us on a few team dinners. Always a good time."
