LA Galaxy's Donovan: Don't count me out of USA plans just yet

LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan suggests he should not yet be counted of the USA national team.

The 31-year old attacking midfielder has been seemingly replaced by Sporting Kansas City's Graham Zusi in Juergen Klinsmann's side and although he admits the 26-year old has deserved his place, Donovan has sent a warning.

"I think Graham's been terrific," said Donovan after providing an assist and scoring a goal in the weekend's 2-0 victory over SKC.

"And aside from all the on-the-field stuff, I think he's handled everything really well. I know he gets asked a lot about all this stuff and I said to him after the game that I think he's doing a great job handling it.

"You could tell tonight he wasn't completely on his game, but he has moments where he has something special. And I think he's done a great job. He's somebody who deserves to be where he's at."

He added: "I look forward to continuing to battle back and forth with him and hopefully push each other. He's a lot younger than me. But don't count the old guy out yet."
