LA Galaxy's Buddle lighting up MLS

LA Galaxy striker Edson Buddle is lighting up MLS this season and is now being tipped as a World Cup smoky. The 28-year old has scored all seven of the Galaxy's goals in the opening four matches of the season as his side has enjoyed a unblemished start to the 2010 season and his performances are being praised by USA star and teammate Landon Donovan.

"I don't think I've ever seen anything like it," said Donovan. "The goals are going in, but there's other chances in the game where he's just missing. He's getting pulled around like people wouldn't believe, and he's getting fouled and hammered, and with a little more luck tonight he would have scored three or four."

As for the World Cup claims, Donovan was choosing not to speculate, rather leaving the decision to the national team boss Bob Bradley.

"I think those decisions are the prerogative of the national team coach," he added. "Despite what anyone else thinks, fans and press don't know better than the national team coach on how you select a roster and the needs you have. My opinion doesn't matter

"I always say you play the guy that's playing the best at the time. Period. You always have your guys you rely on, but if guys are playing that way, then those are the guys you want on the field."

For the record, no other player in the 14-year history of MLS has scored his team's first seven goals so if Buddle is not selected for South Africa, he can lay claim to that.
