LA Galaxy's Beckham plays down asthma revelation

LA Galaxy star David Beckham has played down the asthma revelation that came about after he was photographed using an inhaler recently. The England international has revealed how has handled asthma throughout his life and that it will not be a problem leading into next year's World Cup.

"I've got a slight case of asthma which I've had for years," Beckham told ITV News.

"It's never came out (until now) because I've had no reason to talk about it, but that's just me."

Beckham, who has lived with the condition throughout his extensive career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and the Galaxy, as well as the England national team, says the asthma will not affect him going forward.

"It should be fine," he added. "I've played 65 games a season for the last 20 years, so it doesn't affect the future."
