LA Galaxy star David Beckham has denied claims that he is chasing US citizenship. The 35-year old former England international has been living in the US since 2007 but insists he will definitely remain solely an Englishman and will not pursue dual nationality.

"You may have seen some recent quotes attributed to me. Just to be clear - I'm happy living in America but have no intention of becoming a US citizen," he said.

"I'm English and proud to be. That will never change."

Reports suggested that Beckham commented that "it would be nice to get US citizenship" but he has made it quite clear that he will not seek US residency.
