LA Galaxy's Beckham: I want to continue to be a part of MLS growth

David Beckham has revealed the major reasons for re-signing with the LA Galaxy.

The English veteran arrived in Major League Soccer at the start of the 2007 season on a five-year deal with the Galaxy which ended at the culmination of 2011.

But yesterday he signed a new two-year deal amidst speculation that he may have been headed back to Europe and he has spoken about the main factors for his stay.

"I want to get soccer to a different level in this country and I think we've done that," he said in a Google+ Q&A streamed live on YouTube on Thursday.

"I've felt it's changed in the last couple of years and that's why I didn't want to walk away from it. To walk away from it would be disappointing. I want to continue to be a part of that growth. It's been an exciting time and it's great for the family to be here.

"It was all about what I felt for the future of the game in the US and where my family was happiest. My family are happiest here in the moment. We love living in LA and living in America. We've adapted to the culture and adapted to everything this country has and we've enjoyed that.

"I'm going to continue to enjoy playing soccer here and my family will continue to enjoy it."
