LA Galaxy star David Beckham has defended his decision to join Major League Soccer. The England international has been criticised over the past few years for deciding to play in America, which some see as a step down, but is happy he came to Los Angeles and his selection in Fabio Capello's national team squad has vindicated his move.
"Obviously when I wasn't playing for Real Madrid and I wasn't in the England side as well, I took a career decision which I thought was the right one,' he told the Mail on Sunday. "I still don't regret it and I stick up for my decision. I'd played at two of the biggest clubs in the world and been successful at both for many years."
Beckham added that he will make a decision on his playing future when his body tells him to.
"I'll finish when I feel my legs can't take any more and then I'll start enjoying family life," he added.
"I want to play as long as possible. I have two years left at the Galaxy, after that who knows? I might carry on playing, but there'll be options open to me.
"I can't see me being a manager, but in life you never say never."
