LA Galaxy's Beckham and Sarvas have half-time run-in before being subbed

LA Galaxy midfielders David Beckham and Marcelo Sarvas had a half-time bust-up as the reigning champions lost to New England Revolution 3-1 on the weekend.

The English veteran exchanged words with the Brazilian, as well as defender Sean Franklin, on the way off the pitch at The Home Depot Center but Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena says his decision to sub both Beckham and Sarvas had nothing to do with the alleged run-in.

"It was purely a coach's decision. We needed to make a change in midfield," he said.

"I'm sure David's not pleased about it but that's not the issue. The issue was that 11 players from New England soundly outplayed 11 players from the Galaxy.

"I couldn't change 11 players and that's what I told the team at half-time. If I had 11 substitutions, I'd have considered that."
