LA Galaxy’s Arena always open to Buddle return

LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena says he was always eyeing the possibility of a return for striker Edson Buddle.

The USA international departed the club in late 2010 to spend a year in Germany with FC Ingolstadt but is now back at The Home Depot Center which is something Arena felt could happen.

Now that Buddle – who scored 19 goals in the 2010 MLS season – is back, Arena is looking for him to form a good on-field partnership with Robbie Keane who will later this month return from a loan with Aston Villa.

“We’d been in contact with Edson’s representative awhile,” Arena said.

“We always made him aware of the fact that if the opportunity presented him to come back, we’d sure like to get him back.

“Hopefully, it’s going to be good,” he said of the partnership with Keane. “There’s going to be a lot of work in there, and he’s not going to have much time to work with Robbie.”
