LA Galaxy to play it by ear with Beckham

LA Galaxy have no great plans for star midfielder David Beckham this season.

The 37-year old Englishman is getting to a stage in his career where he needs to be rested instead of played in every match and the Galaxy plan to do that this campaign.

Another thing to take into account is that Beckham may represent Team Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics which would also rule him out of some MLS matches with Galaxy coach Bruce Arena happy to see where the ex-Manchester United ace is at one as weekly basis.

"We're taking it one game at a time this year with everything," Arena said.

"We haven't made any decisions [with] what's going to happen over the season. We don't know whether David will be selected for Great Britain's Olympic team, so we don't know a lot of those things that will play a role in how much he plays during the year and especially in the week where we have three games."
