LA Galaxy offer ticket reduction after Messi game cancelled

MLS champions LA Galaxy have offered fans a ticket reduction deal after an exhibition game to feature Lionel Messi was cancelled.

The 'Messi and Friends' match, to be played against a 'Rest of the World' side, which was set for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday had to be cancelled because the Barcelona ace could not participate.

A release from Todd Graham, CEO of El Padrino Spirits Inc., read: "After hours of trying to convince Lionel Messi's management team to fulfill their contractual agreement and come to Los Angeles, it is clear they have no respect for these fans and this market. We feel that this is a blatant attempt to defraud American citizens and businesses that sponsored this event."

To counter the cost of the tickets, the Galaxy have offered supporters reduced prices for upcoming MLS matches.

"There are a lot of soccer fans throughout the region that were hoping to be able to see world class soccer players this holiday weekend and while they were not able to at the Coliseum, they can at StubHub Center," LA Galaxy President Chris Klein said.

"As soccer fans ourselves, everyone at the Galaxy recognizes the difficulty of this situation but we hope that our offer can help heal some of the disappointment."

The ticket costing breakdown for Thursday's meeting with Columbus Crew and Sunday's clash with FC Dallas is as follows:

General Admission $30.50 Endline $36.00 Sideline $45.25 Reserved Sideline $59.25
