Peter Vagenas has been appointed as the director of LA Galaxy's youth academy.
The 35-year old former Galaxy skipper returns to the club to take the reins of the day-to-day youth team operations.
"We're excited to bring Pete back home to the LA Galaxy," club president Chris Klein said in a statement.
"He is an important part of the history of our club and he will play an integral role in developing the Galaxy players of the future."
Vagenas was taken by the Galaxy at pick number 23 in the 2000 MLS SuperDraft and went on to captain the club to the 2005 MLS Cup. He departed Carson to join Seattle Sounders in 2009 and since played with Chivas USA and Vancouver Whitecaps before calling his retirement earlier this year.
