Reigning MLS champions LA Galaxy could make an announcement on their proposed Designated Player in May.
NBC Sports Network commentator Arlo White revealed on Saturday night during the broadcast of the Galaxy's 1-0 loss to FC Dallas that he had spoken to head coach Bruce Arena about the possibility of a new star name arriving at The Home Depot Center this summer.
"Really interesting talking to Bruce Arena yesterday," White said.
"We asked him about the possibility and timeframe of a Designated Player and he said it should be finalized in the next couple of weeks. Perhaps early May.
"We couldn't get any more information out of him. He said it's down to one. And I asked him have both parties agreed and he said, 'I know one of us has.' So they're waiting for the word."
The Galaxy have been linked with Chelsea veteran Frank Lampard and Real Madrid playmaker Kaka but it remains to be seen who will become the third DP behind Robbie Keane and Landon Donovan.
