LA Galaxy great Beckham steps into the whisky world

David Beckham has teamed up with Diageo to launch a new brand of Scotch whisky.

The former Manchester United and LA Galaxy star, who has entered Major League Soccer franchise ownership in Miami, will help develop the brand, strategy and positioning of newly-created 'Haig Club' whisky.

The Wall Street Journal reports that former star midfielder Beckham has partnered up with the British multinational alcoholic beverage company with the partnership also including his long-time business partner Simon Fuller.

Beckham said: "I'm proud to be working at the heart of a homegrown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years."

Some of Diageo's biggest brands include Smirnoff vodka, Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky, Bailey's liqueur and the world-famous Guinness stout.
