LA Galaxy friendly with Newcastle Jets to air live on Fox Soccer Channel

The LA Galaxy announced today that the club's upcoming friendly against the Newcastle Jets of Australia's Hyundai A-League, will be shown live on Fox Soccer Channel on Saturday, November 27, giving Galaxy fans one final chance to watch their team play live in 2010.

The broadcast of The Qantas Challenge will begin at midnight with a 30-minute pregame show, with the game kicking off live from EnergyAustralia Stadium in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia at 12:30 a.m. Following the conclusion of the game, Fox Soccer Channel will air a 30-minute postgame show, complete with player interviews and reaction to the friendly from the stadium.

In addition to Fox Soccer Channel's live telecast, the game will also be shown in Spanish on FOX Deportes on Sunday, November 28 at 2 p.m. The Galaxy-Jets showdown will enjoy multiple re-airs throughout the week on Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes. This is the Galaxy's second trip to Australia in the last four years, with the club also playing Sydney FC in front of more than 80,000 fans at Telstra Stadium in November 2007. This time around, they will face the 2008 Hyundai A-League Grand Final champion Newcastle Jets. The Jets, who are led by former England international forwards Michael Bridges and Francis Jeffers, currently sit in ninth place in the A-League with a 2-5-5 record for 11 points from their first 12 games of the season. The Jets currently sit six points out of the sixth and final playoff spot in the A-League, though they have played the fewest games in the league and have as many as four games in hand on the teams that they are chasing.

Under the leadership of head coach Branko Culina, the Jets have allowed just 10 goals in their 12 league games and earned their best result of the season on Saturday, a 3-1 win over second place Adelaide, which saw Australian forward Marko Jesic scored his first two goals of the season, with Jeffers setting up one in his debut for the club.
