Robbie Keane could be out of the LA Galaxy side for about a month because of injury.
The former Tottenham striker had to withdraw from Republic of Ireland's final Euro2012 qualifier on Tuesday night with an adductor problem which could now keep him sidelined for four weeks.
Despite the early diagnosis, Galaxy coach Bruce Arena was failing to rule Keane out of the MLS play-offs which commence in early November.
"We'll know more when he gets back here," Arena said. "Can't tell until he gets back here and we have our people look at him."
