Edson Buddle is set to fire this season according to LA Galaxy coach Bruce Arena. The 28-year old forward has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons which has interrupted his decent goalscoring record but Arena is confident that the man who has tallied 73 MLS goals since 2001will be back to full fitness in 2010.
"I think this year he's healthy, he's off on a good note and I think he'll have a good, productive season," Arena said. "There's been some unfortunate situations that have set him back a bunch of times, so I don't think he's never been able to get into the good rhythm and have the confidence you want in your striker."
Arena added that Buddle's return to regular first team action this season will help the Galaxy become more attacking and he will help the share the load up front.
"We need a bunch of players capable of scoring goals," Arena added. "It would be nice to get a player who can score in double figures and have a bunch of other players that can get you three to five goals.
"If we can do that, we'll be a better team going forward."
Buddle also chimed in, saying he was positive about the upcoming season after a disappointing 2009.
"You have to have a short memory in this game as a striker," he said. "Injuries happen to everyone actually ... it's familiar territory in sports. I've learned it's not about me, me, me. It's definitely about the team.
"I feel good about this season."
