LA Galaxy and NYRB easily head MLS payroll

Major League Soccer’s glamour clubs LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls are easily at the top of the competition’s payroll.

According to the MLS Players Union, both clubs pay their players in excess of $13million, putting them well clear of some clubs down the bottom of the pile cash-wise not necessarily performance-wise.

The Galaxy with the likes of David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane have to fork out $14.6million a season in wages whilst the Red Bulls, with Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez in tow, dish out around $13.7million.

The salary totals are about $10million more than some of the clubs at the lower end of the scale.
