LA Galaxy ace Beckham does not want England charity

LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham doesn't want any charity from England coach Fabio Capello.

Becks, 35, admitted he is desperate to continue his England career - 115 caps and counting - but stressed if he is not ready for next month's Euro 2012 clash with Montenegro he will rule himself out of the reckoning.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan star played for the last 20 minutes of LA Galaxy's 3-1 over Columbus Crew at the Home Depot Centre on Saturday night.

And he said: "I have always said I still want to be available for England and if I'm fit and well I'm sure the manager will consider me.

"But I am an honest person and if I'm not fit I will say so."

Becks continued: "I don't see putting myself up to play for my country as a hinderance to any young player.

"The young players are still an option for the manager to pick. He's doing that right now which is great - but I still want to play, too.

"And that's not me being greedy or being selfish. That's me having a passion for my country.
