LA Galaxy a good challenge for Wilhelmsson

Christian Wilhelmsson is excited about the new challenge ahead of him as he gets set to join LA Galaxy.

The 32-year old Sweden international has been training with the reigning champions for weeks now and it appears as though a deal will soon be finalised despite reports suggesting that he had already signed.

Wilhelmsson, who has played with the likes of Anderlecht, AS Roma and Bolton during his career, says he is looking forward to playing in a league that is rapidly improving in a team that possesses some star quality.

"[Major League Soccer] is a league on the rise," he said.

"It's fun to try something new, and also all that implies, of staying in Los Angeles.

"There were bids with more money, but there were other things that played into this. Like to play with [David] Beckham and [Robbie] Keane. I like it already incredibly well with the group."
