LA Dodgers owners interested in acquiring LA Galaxy

The new owners of Major League Baseball outfit LA Dodgers are believed to be showing considerable interest in MLS giants LA Galaxy.

Guggenheim Partners, who took over at Dodger Stadium in May, are looking into growing their sports ownership by acquiring NBA pair Kings and Lakers as well as the reigning North America soccer champions the Galaxy.

Mark Walter, chairman of the Dodgers and chief of Guggenheim, has revealed that he is looking at potentially taking over Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) which owns the Galaxy, the Staples Center, the Home Depot Center, 50% of the Houston Dynamo and also has an interest in the Lakers.

"We're looking at AEG," Walter told the LA Times.

"We're looking at a lot of companies. We certainly don't buy them all. Even if we thought it was a great company, you've got to look at it to know that."

It is suggested that a bid of between $5billion and $7billion will be enough to pry away the Anschutz Co. entity.
