Kilmarnock's Kevin Kyle credits his return to the international fold with his decision to rejoin the Scottish Premier League in January after an 8 year absence.

Kyle earned the last of his eight caps in 2004 but has been called up to George Burley's squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers with FYR Macedonia and Holland.

"The manager (Jim Jefferies) broke the news to me this morning that I was picked and I couldn't quite believe it," he told Sports News.

"I kind of did (think his international hopes were over) because my career lost form a little bit down in England and I just took the chance of coming back home and seeing how I'd work out in the SPL.

"Fortunately for me, it's worked out great. I've just knuckled down and I've got my rewards today."
