Kwasnik on target again as Central Coast Mariners notch up another pre-season win

Striker Adam Kwasnik scored his fourth goal in two matches last night as the Central Coast Mariners recorded a 4-1 pre-season friendly win over ACT Premier League club Belconnen.

Following on from his hat-trick against Canberra FC on Sunday, Kwasnik netted the Mariners third goal just after the half-hour mark with a spectacular backheel from close range.

Prior to that goal, Matt Simon (29th minute) and Brad Porter (31st) had made it 2-0 and a Belconnen penalty scored by Dustin Wells made it 3-1 a minute before half-time.

John Hutchinson scored the only goal of the second half in the 83rd minute to give the Mariners another solid win under new coach Graham Arnold who was happy his team performed well despite a number of changes.

"Yes we made eight changes, but I'm very happy, it was very promising," Arnold said.

"We've added quite a bit of depth to the squad and there is a lot of competition for places so that always breeds better performances.

"We've had two half sessions working on our defensive shape and the important thing is they are taking to it very easily with the narrow diamond. We have players for that system and it is always about getting the right players for that certain system."
