Dirk Kuyt admits Liverpool's squad depth isn't strong enough to cope with a full campaign.
Kuyt believes Liverpool's struggles have been down to a lack of strength in depth.
He rapped: "I've often had to play in Carling Cup games, partly through injuries to other players.
"The manager said he was afraid of overworking me but we obviously do not have enough top-quality players in reserve.
"Before the season everyone felt we should be able to make the final step to winning the title.
"But we have been unable to cope with injuries to key players."
