Kuyt puts himself in frame for Liverpool start

Dirk Kuyt is desperate to start for Liverpool when they travel to Arsenal this weekend.

The Dutchman came on as a 61st minute replacement for new signing Jordan Henderson in the 1-1 season opening draw with Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday but wants to be there from the start when the Reds take on the Gunners at the Emirates tomorrow.

He also feels that last week's result against the Black Cats was a disappointment and is hoping it is put right in North London.

"I'm happy we're on the way now," Kuyt told Liverpool's official website. "The draw against Sunderland wasn't what we were hoping for - we wanted three points, but that's behind us now and a really big game is waiting for us on Saturday.

"I am feeling very well. It's my first full pre-season in many years. Last year, for example, I had two weeks to prepare for the season, but this year I had a full pre-season and I have to say I am feeling fitter than ever. It's the home stretch! 24/7 click for the best coverage of Liverpool's final transfer market moves
