Liverpool hat-trick hero Dirk Kuyt was delighted to see Andy Carroll make his debut in victory over Manchester United.
Kuyt paid tribute to Carroll who made his Liverpool debut when he entered the field as a 74th minute substitute.
"It was brilliant to see him make his debut," he told liverpoolfc.tv.
"We have spoken about Luis and how good he has been so far and everyone can see his influence, and we were waiting for Andy to play and he has worked hard to get fit.
"I think he showed a few of his qualities and we just want to start another good run and hopefully we can get a good result in Portugal on Thursday."
