Dirk Kuyt was delighted to prove Liverpool's matchwinner in yesterday's derby triumph over Everton. Kuyt headed home from close range in the second-half for the only goal of the game.

The attacking ace was sporting a scar on his cheek for much of the match after being kicked in the face by Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini while grounded early on.

The Dutchman said: "It was a very tough game especially after the red card but we ­defended very well and scored a great goal from a set-piece."
