Now with a full pre-season behind him, the England international is set to shine according to Kuyt.
"Andy is going to be top quality for us this season," the 31-year-old told liverpoolfc.tv.
"It was difficult for him when he arrived because he had an injury. Then he played a few games and did very well but got another injury.
"Now he's had a full pre-season and has scored in his last two games. Hopefully he'll get another one next weekend.
"Andy is very strong in the air and you can also play it into his feet. He's a top striker and I'm sure he will do well and score a lot goals for us."
