Krylya keeper Giorgi Loria: Why I rejected Mourinho and Chelsea

Krylya Sovetov Samara goalkeeper Giorgi Loria has revealed Jose Mourinho wanted to sign him for Chelsea.

Mourinho wanted to sign Loria, who was available from Olympiacos, in September after Thibaut Courtois suffered his knee injury - before he eventually turning to Marco Amelia.

"It's true that Chelsea wanted me. On the night I signed the contract with Krylya, I was called by the director of Chelsea. He said that Mourinho had seen my games and was fond of my game. They had lost Courtois and needed a keeper. 'We would like to see you on Monday'," revealed Loria.

"I just could not believe it. I explained that I was already at Krylya and that I could not just switch.

"Am I disappointed? No, this was obviously my destiny. Moreover, I could already be in England, but the deal with Nottingham Forest fell through because I had not played seventy matches. I have also negotiated with Vitesse, Karpaty Lviv, Dynamo Moscow, Stoke City and Club Atlético Huracán."
