Kruse on verge of first Melbourne Victory start

Robbie Kruse is on the verge of making his first start for new club Melbourne Victory. The former Brisbane Roar striker has made three substitute appearances since crossing to the reigning champions and with coach Ernie Merrick likely to play a more attacking formation on the weekend, Kruse could get his starting chance.

The Victory take on the Roar meaning Kruse will be up against his former teammates for the first time with Merrick naming him as a definite option after some major improvement.

"I know in my mind which way I want to go and I'll make that decision tomorrow," Merrick said yesterday.

"We won't make too many changes, but we've got a couple of options and that's one option.

"(Kruse has) certainly done himself some favours since he came here. He's getting better and better and he gives us another option up front."

The Victory host the Roar at Etihad Stadium tomorrow, Saturday October 3 - kick-off is at 7:30pm AEST.
