Tim Krul could have been sent off in Newcastle United's 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday according to manager Alan Pardew.
The Dutch goalkeeper conceded a penalty when bringing down Matej Vydra late in the New Year's Day clash at The Hawthorns and Pardew felt he could have been dealt the same fate as defender Mathieu Debuchy who was sent off in the 62nd minute for a two-footed challenge on Claudio Yacob.
"I thought it was a penalty. Fortunately the forward had a big touch, otherwise we might have lost another player," said Pardew after Baggies youngster Saido Berahino netted from the spot.
"I thought the referee (Lee Mason) got that right.
"That was the deciding factor in a very tight game.
"I can't fault the players. I thought they were terrific in their application and attitude but with this programme, with 10 men, you're always going to be struggling."
