Krul confident being long-term Newcastle No1

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is confident he can be the club's long-term No1.

Krul says he signed his new contract this summer because he envisages being the Newcastle No 1 eventually.

Krul, 22, who had a second-half run-out against PSV, said: "I always said my dream was to play in the Premier League and I would love to do that with Newcastle. It's going to be a great four years and hopefully it will lead to me becoming the next No 1.

"I have to keep pushing Steve (Harper). He knows what it's like for me. He always says, "Tim, I've been in your shoes, I have done it". It's good to be patient."
