Tim Krul says Papiss Cisse has lifted the quality of Newcastle United's squad.

Cisse struck twice in victory over Liverpool on Sunday.

"He's a fantastic striker," Krul told the Evening Chronicle.

"He shows it day in, day out in training, he's a proper goalscorer. If you give him one chance he puts it into the back of the net. He's a typical number 9 for Newcastle.

"I'm really pleased we signed a top-class striker."
