Krul can't believe Newcastle have gone without a trophy for so long

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is amazed at the club's trophy drought.

The Magpies have gone 43 years without silverware since their 1969 European Fairs Cup triumph and Krul admits he cannot believe such a big club have struggled for success.

"Yes, because it's got all the attributes - the stadium, the fans…," Krul said when asked if he was surprised by the Toon's barren run.

"If you see the clubs who have won prizes, I can't see why we can't get to the FA Cup final or push on as a top-six team.

"I have said it for years now, that Newcastle has got everything to be one of the top teams, and we are showing that this season."
