Krul and Simpson could return - Newcastle's Pardew

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has indicated that Tim Krul and Danny Simpson could return this weekend.

Dutch goalkeeper Krul has missed the last three Magpies matches after injuring his elbow on Holland duty whilst right-back Simpson hurt his hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on September 2 but both could play against Reading.

"Danny will train Thursday or Friday all being well," Pardew told the Evening Chronicle.

"Tim is looking for the all-clear on Wednesday to start back."

Newcastle take on Manchester United at Old Trafford in the third round of the Capital One Cup tomorrow night before heading to the Madejski Stadium to meet the Royals in the Premier League on Saturday.
