Kroenke to be offered board place at Arsenal

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood says major shareholder Stan Kroenke could be invited to join the board.

It was feared by many fans that Kroenke had made the club a target for a £350million takeover after he acquired a 12.9 per cent stake in the club earlier this year. The suggestion was that he would link up with former vice-chairman David Dein.

But that alliance has ended - and Kroenke now wants to establish a healthy relationship with the current board who have successfully blocked moves by Uzbek millionaire Alisher Usmanov to take control.

Hill- Wood said talks with Kroenke's organisation had gone well - and, asked about a future invitation from the Arsenal board to Kroenke to appoint his own representative, he said: "I think that is quite possible."
