Kreis' vision has already served Real Salt Lake well

The vision of Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis has already been vindicated after the club qualified for the MLS Cup final.

The 36-year old retired as a player and immediately took over as coach of the Royals in 2007, the decision turning heads all around MLS.

Early on he traded two of Real Salt Lake's stars (Jeff Cunningham and Chris Klein) and has since had almost a complete cleanout of the playing list inherited three seasons ago…and it has worked.

The Royals overcame Chicago Fire in the Eastern Conference final last week to book their place in this weekend's MLS Cup final against the LA Galaxy and Kreis couldn't be happier.

"After 11 years playing and three years coaching, it's my first opportunity," said Kreis. "I feel awesome, I feel fantastic.

"It's truly a special night, a special moment for this club and for everyone involved.

"I feel rewarded for all the hard work that's been put in," Kreis added.

Real Salt Lake take on the LA Galaxy this Sunday night, November 22, at Qwest Field, Seattle in the 2009 MLS Cup final.
