American billionaire Robert Kraft has ruled out moving for Liverpool.
Kraft, whose NFL side New England Patriots face Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Wembley on Sunday, has been linked with a bid since he first held talks about an Anfield takeover in 2005.
Speculation surfaced again last month when current American chiefs George Gillett and Tom Hicks admitted they want to end their ownership.
Speaking from the Patriots trophy room Kraft, 68, told The Sun: "I wanted to do that deal with Liverpool but we only go into business ventures where we believe we can compete at a high level, because we like winning consistently.
"One good thing about the NFL is that there is competitive balance and parity.
"I don't want to be in a situation where someone is spending £100million more than I am on the payroll."
