Last year's Premiers Newcastle Jets remain winless this season after they played out a nil-all draw with the undefeated Sydney FC. A hard-fought match saw the return of two former Jets players in opposition colours in Stuart Musialik and 2007 Grand Final hero Mark Bridge who were given a less than welcoming reception by Newcastle fans and players alike.

Even though it was a game of end to end football, neither side could convert despite the fact that both sides dominated stages of the match.

Sydney coach John Kosmina was happy to settle with a point but thought it may have been a different outcome if things went his team's way.

Kosmina said, "Had we got one in the first half I think the floodgates would have opened to be honest. The longer the game went on the more confident Newcastle became, and that showed in the performance."

After Sydney midfielder Mitchell Prentice was sent off late in the match for a second yellow card challenge, it looked like the Newcastle could force a positive result their way but were unable to do so and both teams had to share the points.

Sydney, who remain second on the table host third-placed Adelaide United next week in what promises to be an enthralling encounter whilst Newcastle travel to Queensland in a mid-table battle.
