Arouna Kone's return to action for Everton on Thursday night was very pleasing for manager Roberto Martinez.
The Ivory Coast striker made his first appearance since October last year and first start since August in the 1-0 Europa League loss to Kuban Krasnodar at Goodison Park.
Kone has been sidelined with a knee injury he sustained in just his fifth appearance for the Toffees after joining from Wigan Athletic in July 2013 and managed to get through a full match which delighted Martinez.
"I was very impressed by Kone," Martinez told Sky Sports.
"He looked sharp and powerful for the full 90 minutes. His hold-up play was very strong."
However, Chelsea loanee Christian Atsu was subbed off after 11 minutes with a hamstring problem.
"The only real negative of the night was Christian straining his hamstring. We will assess him," he added.
