Kompany to defy Man City and turn out for Belgium

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set to play for Belgium tomorrow.

The Manchestr Evening News says Kompany has been declared fit and is expected to play in Belgium's Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel on Tuesday.

"Vincent Kompany has participated fully in training and without any problems. I expect that he will be ready for the match against Israel," coach Marc Wilmots told reporters on Sunday. "He has worked hard in training and knows his own body well."

Kompany has not played since he suffered a calf injury in City's Champions League defeat to Juventus on September 15 and manager Manuel Pellegrini has seen Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov pick up injuries on international duty over the past week.

Pellegrini warned Kompany before the international break: "If you cannot play for your club, you cannot play for your national squad."
