Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says their emergence is good for English football.
Harry Redknapp's Tottenham first broke up the 'big four' when they grabbed the fourth qualification spot in 2008-09, then City's millions saw them grab third place last season.
"I think Tottenham and ourselves doing well in the past few years has been great," said Kompany.
"Had it just been the same four sides challenging each season, it would have damaged the game here [in England].
"Now there are maybe six teams capable of winning the title - that can only be great for English football."
