Kompany denies falling out with Pellegrini

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has played down rumours of a rift between him and City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

It is understood that Pellegrini was not pleased with Kompany's decision to play for Belgium in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel on October 13, despite being unavailable for City's previous five matches due to a calf injury.

Kompany admitted there was a 'difference in opinion' about the matter, but that did not constitute a rift between he and the Manchester City boss.

"It's one of those things, the whole situation is a matter of opinions," Kompany told Sky Sports.

"It's difficult to say too much about it but I'm back, I'm happy to be back and whenever I get the chance to put a shirt on I'll give everything I have, for my national team and my club.

"There's nothing to be cleared, it's a difference in opinon on the matter, and it's fine.

"We still have the same goal, which is winning the league. Ultimately I'm a professional so whatever it is, it's fine.

"The relationship is good, the problem is there's two opinionated people who have strong characters with a difference in opinion on one single subject, but it doesn't compromise anything we do going forward.

"This club needs to win trophies, there's no excuses, that's clear for the manager and clear to me. That's the only thing that matters."
