Kompany confident Man City can solve defensive deficiencies

Vincent Kompany has no concerns over the state of Manchester City's defence heading into the new season.

New boss Manuel Pellegrini was critical of the Blues' display during a 5-3 friendly victory over AC Milan and saw his side breached a further three times against Arsenal on Saturday.

Kompany told the Daily Mirror: "Okay, we conceded three goals from three chances (against Arsenal), but it wasn't a bad game.

"If it wasn't good enough, I would say it, but during the week we did an incredible amount of work.

"This game was just a top-up for all the physical work we've done and it was just what we needed.

"I know both teams had a different week leading up to this game. The information I got is their build-up and our build-up were completely different, so we are happy with what we got out of it."
