Kompany confident being fit for Man City opener

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany hopes to be ready for the season kickoff.

The Daily Star Sunday says Kompany, 30, flew to Spain last Sunday, returning to Manchester two days later.

Kompany went to see Dr Eduardo Mauri Montero at the renowned clinic run by Dr Ramon Cugat.

He had surgery on groin and thigh problems in Barcelona in May.

At that time, Kompany was ruled out of representing Belgium at Euro 2016 and was expected to miss the start of this season.

But he now hopes to be available for the opening game with Sunderland on August 13.
