Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is still ambitious as he attempts to bounce back from a below-par season.
The 29-year-old was criticised after a number of mistakes during the Blues' 2014-15 Premier League campaign.
"At the level at which I play, I don't expect flowers when things aren't going well," the Belgian told the Manchester Evening News.
"The truth is that I can play football - don't worry - and I'm coming back even stronger than before. I have to show it on the pitch. I don't have a choice."
