Manchester City does not rely too heavily on Vincent Kompany.
That is the sentiment of manager Manuel Pellegrini who is not expecting his side to struggle in the Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night without their captain.
Belgium international Kompany missed Saturday's 4-1 loss at Tottenham and there are fears the Citizens miss his influence in central defence whenever he is sidelined.
However, Pellegrini does not concur: "Of course Vincent is a very important player.
"He is our captain and he has started the season very well but I don't think one player is so crucial.
"We won the last six games of last season without Vincent."
City take on Gladbach in Germany having lost their opening Champions League Group D fixture 2-1 to Juventus a fortnight ago.
