Koeman remains confident of Southampton ability to juggle European and domestic duties

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman insists that his side has enough strength in depth to compete in Europa League and Premier League at the same time.

In years gone by, clubs such as Everton and Tottenham have found it difficult to juggle the duties on the domestic and continental front, but Koeman is confident of setting a new precedent with the Saints.

Ahead of Thursday's Europa League play-off first leg with Danish club FC Midtjylland, he said, "I'm confident that we can do both.

"Okay, we got a good wake-up call last Saturday (when losing 3-0 at home to Everton) and we need everybody on the level what they can bring. Then we have a strong team.

"We have to improve, we have to learn about the mistakes and we need maybe a little bit more time than last year, because in the defensive aspect of the team we had to make a lot of changes and that wasn't compared to last season."
