Koeman hoping goals flow for Southampton young gun Ward-Prowse

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prose scored the first Premier League goal of his career on Saturday and manager Roland Koeman is now hoping that the goals will come thick and fast for the 20-year old.

The England U20 international, a product of the famed Southampton youth academy, scored the first goal in the 2-0 win over Hull City from the penalty spot.

When asked if he is eager for Ward-Prowse to contribute more, Koeman said: "I hope, because we need to score to win. I mentioned to the players before the last game that in the last 11 we only scored eight goals and that's not a lot.

"We know we received seven out of 11 games, that's very good and a strong quality what we have this season, but we need to create more. We need to score more.

"It wasn't normal for Prowsey, because I like the player. He's a talent, has good qualities and he's shooting in the set-pieces. He was struggling a little bit about scoring the first one.

"It was good for him because it's good experience as it was a difficult moment in the game. He took the responsibility."
